Pemilihan Duta Wisata Jawa Tengah 2008
 Pemilihan Duta Wisata Jawa Tengah 2008 akan diselenggarakan 26-29 Nopember 2008 yang diikuti oleh para pemenang Mas & Mbak di tingkat Kabupaten/Kota se-Jawa Tengah. Masa karatina berlangsung 26-29 Nopember 2008 di Hotel Siliwangi Semarang. Selama masa karantina peserta terlibat dalam berbagai kegiatan seperti : pembekalan, test tertulis dan wawancara dengan materi pengetahuan umum & pariwisata, bhs inggris, psikotes, tata rias, tata busana, talent show, audensi dengan Gubernur Jawa Tengah, kunjungan ke studio TVKU serta pabrik Teh Botol Sosro. Malam Grand Final Pemilihan Mas dan Mbak Jawa Tengah 2008 berlangsung pada tanggal 29 Nopember 2008 pukul 19.00-24.00 WIB di Hotel Patra Jasa Semarang. Jawa Tengah Meraih Juara II pada DWI
 Sedikitnya 25 provinsi mengikuti Pemilihan Duta Wisata Indonesia (DWI) yang digelar Asosiasi Duta Wisata Indonesia (Aswindo) dan Yayasan Duta Wisata Indonesia dengan dukungan Departemen Kebudayan dan Pariwisata Republik Indonesia (Depbudpar). Kegiatan dibuka resmi Gubernur Kepulauan Bangka Belitung H. Eko Maulana Ali berlangsung mulai hari, Rabu (12/11) hingga Senin (17/11).
Tahun 2008 ini, Bangka Belitung dipercaya menjadi tuan rumah setelah dua pelaksanaan sebelumnya diadakan di Jakarta dan Bali.
Kehadiran 25 peserta dari 25 provinsi tersebut, merupakan apresiasi positif dalam mendukung kebijakan pemerintah khususnya Depbudpar RI. Dalam kejuaraan tersebut Jawa Tengah meraih juara II yang diwakili Sdri Anastasia Ratih Prameswari P dan Aldino Wisnu Oktora dari Salatiga, sedang juara I diraih Kalimantan Selatan dan juara III dipegang Provinsi KEPULAUAN RIAU
Secara teknis, Pemilihan Duta Wisata Indonesia ke-3 melalui berbagai tahapan, diantaranya tahap karantina, penjurian, seminar nasional duta wisata serta malam grand final. Sedangkan jadwal rangkaian kegiatan diawali dengan presentasi pariwisata bagi masing-masing daerah, seminar nasional, pembekalan tentang promosi pariwisata, pengembangan industri pariwisata dan kunjungan ke mas media lokal. Pada tahun 2009 mendatang akan diselenggarakan di Provinsi Maluku. (Toto-Lutfi)

Desa Wisata Selo Kab. Boyolali
 Desa wisata ini terletak di jalur Kawasan Wisata Solo-Selo-Borobudur (SSB), sekitar 20 Km dari Kota Boyolali. Keunikan dari desa wisata ini yang dapat dinikmati oleh wisatawan adalah panorama pedesaan yang dikombinasikan dengan pemandangan gunung Merapi dan Merbabu. Di sana sudah tersedia sarana akomodasi dengan pondok-pondok wisata yang dikelola sendiri oleh masyarakat setempat, sehingga wisatawan dapat berinterkasi secara langsung. Bagi wisatawan yang menyukai petualangan alam tersedia paket wisata pendakian Gunung Merapi dan Merbabu.
